The best film ever made!?

wallcrawler - Manchester, Delaware England 1/14/2004 7:42:05 PM
Ok well maybe not, but when i was first introduced to bring it on i had much the same attitude as any man watching a chick film about cheerleaders. But for a start it features the gorgeous and highly captivating Eliza Dushku (she''s actually my wife, she just isnt aware of the fact yet)So that should be an instant five, but it is genuineley entertaining. Come on, anyone who has watched it has got to admit a certain appeal. Its standard American high school humour and features ''boy trouble'' and a few teen rights of passage. But thats not always a bad thing. We all like a bit of cheese every now and again.(watch it just for the car wash scene!) its a no brainer, sit back and enjoy! |
pedophilia

I admit it the movie is dreadful, but I stayed in the theater the entire time because I wanted to see Eliza DUshku wearing a cheerleader outfit. I amanaged to make it through this entirely unrelatable plot about giving a rat''s ass about a cheeerleading dilemma.
But one good thing came from my experience. I found Kirsten Dunst to appear too young to be sexually attractive at that time, so I am no longer worried about my being a pedophile. I can justify Eliza because she was 20 when she did the movie, but looked like a 27 year old hooker. |
It''s already been BRAWTEN!

I watched the diretor’s deleted scenes and he cut without mercy. The scenes aren’t that detracting from the story at all, especially that one girl’s cheer. Anyways, the real lesson to be learned here is that the script needs to be super tight and yes, it’s tight.
The great about this DVD is the Director''s comments. Shoot Extra scenes, Don''t be afraid to leave scenes on the editing floor. Ask yourself, would you have cut those scenes?
I would love to have seen more of Eliza Dushku. |

Must see for DVD version for the Director''s comments on how he ruthlessly left scenes on the editing floor. That made this movie unbelievably tight.
I was really surprised at how good this movie was. I liked the auditions. It brought everybody’s character out. The Cheerleader’s post-reactions were interesting in introducing the different characters. Like Whitney, imitating her sister when she cheered. The guy falling out of his chair when he while he watched the stripper/ cheerleader. A lot more can be said from people’s reactions than having them explain their character. |
way to go team!

Not just another movie about cheerleaders.
Bring It On has a great first scene. It takes almost every pre-conceived notion of high school cheerleaders, and twists it in an in-your-face cheer that makes fun of itself, and sets the entire tone for the movie. You know from the get-go that it''s a titillating comedy with wit and sass (not to forget peppy).
The casting was also terrific. The only distraction was that the male lead (Jesse Bradford) looked way too much like Zander from the Buffy the Vampire Slayer series. Perhaps it was because his co-star Eliza Dushku is from Buffy. But Kirsten and Eliza make this move rule.
Last but not least, the DVD has deleted and extended scenes prefaced by the director Peyton Reed as to why certain clips didn''t make out of the cutting room. And that, is what makes DVD so great.
