the film was good but, compared to other chow yun fat films..just a 3,definately better than bulletproof monk which was warmed over hollywood $%^&*..for more definative FAT try HARDBOILED the BETTER TOMORROW SERIES (1-3 ) THE KILLER and the like ..don''t get me wrong taken by itself a good movie but to anyone who has seen FAT''s prior HONG KONG cinema work a little slow
Bad Ass!

I agree that the plot was pretty thin and predictable, but I didn’t mind it. I liked the way they introduced how bad ass Chow’s character was and what a great abs Mira had. Walking up to his victim and giving him a bullet with his name on it wet a great tone for the movie. White gloves were a great touch. Not to bag on Star Wars Epsiode 1, but if they had done something similar with Darth Maul, we would truly have known how bad ass he was. Just like they introduced Darth Vader in Star Wars, holding that poor Rebel Soldier a foot in the air.
Chow Yun Fat’s premiere US Film.

I thought this movie was just ok. I like the Hong Kong action and the stylishness of it. Chow’s so damn cool when he smokes. I would like to have seen more of a plot. I did like the characters, even the bad guys. I would like to have seen more contrast with Mira. Maybe she could have played a more vulnerable role along with her take no prisoner action. She does a great job with sensitivity like at the last scene in the airport. Kinda like Sandra Bullock in Speed when she starts to cry, yet tough when it comes time to taking action. I agree, more Mira would’ve been nice. :-)
Do not confuse luck with skill

I dug this movie! Very cool Hong Kong Action. They’ve got an original shoot out scene in the carwash. They had many interesting elements, the long hallway, the crashing through the glass, the mist, the twirly wirly stuff and the dolly. I might have added some humor to it like shooting the Soda machine and sodas pop out and squirting everywhere, or he picks up one of the soda cans and throws it at someone. I recommend that filmmakers add more of these use of elements. It’s not about big budget explosions or SFX that makes it interesting. I liked the simple plot, it would have just burdened the movie. More Mira, please!
Kill or be Replaced

These people worked really hard at the shots. They made Chow Yun Fat so graceful as if he were walking on air. I liked the colors that they used to light up the scene like at the end when he kills off Mr. Wei. They use a lot of red. I assume it’s to signify Chinese culture. I liked the scene where they enter Mira Sorvino’s apartment and they show the negatives swaying in slow motion. They also had nice movement in the carwash with the strands swaying in slow motion too. A little too much use of the fog machine. I would like to have seen more of Mira.
