Native Canadian, Hollywood based and
internationally recognized, actress Lisa Crosato is a fine example of
the new Hollywood-- filming globally and viewing locally. Having worked
with international directors such as James Chean of Burma and Hong
Kong, and award-winning French director Jean-Pierre Bekolo (Quartier
Mozart), she has also worked with established American directors, such
as Iren Koster,Robert Hyatt and Steve Anderson.
|
 |
And like many other young
Hollywooders, Lisa is also involved in the writing and producing of her
projects. Her short film Kenmore Ave--a gritty Hitchcock style thriller
filmed at night on the streets of Hollywood---was recently screened to
rave response at Sundance, the LA Short Film festival, the Queens, N.Y.
Film Fesitval and at the Cannes Film Festival, where the organizers
projected the trailer over the red carpet and it ran more than 1500
times. Directed by Nunzio Fazio, Lisa’s compelling performance in
Kenmore Ave. creates a palpable chemistry between her and co-star
renowned Russian actor Levani Uchaneishvili (Black Prince, Spike Lee’s
25th Hour). |
 |
Lisa Crosato grew up and
began acting in Vancouver, Canada and later studied and trained with
Susan Strasberg, in Mark High’s master class and with Jeff Goldblum.
Early in her career, she was accepted into the prestigious Williamstown
Theatre Festival, where she worked with such notables as Gweneth Paltrow,
Christopher Reeve, and Kate Burton. Of her Williamstown experience Lisa
notes: "That's where I really learned the craft of acting, by watching
and working with great Broadway actors." |
 |
She went on to achieve
acclaim in many stage productions including Beirut, A Lie of the Mind,
Saloons and Saviors, and Swimming in the Shallow End. |
 |
Just prior to her death,
the legendary Shelley Winters had cast Lisa, in what was to be a new
staging of her play, One Night Stands of a Noisy Passenger, which she
had written and staged in the 1970's on Broadway with Robert DeNiro and
Diane Ladd. Although the new staging, never transpired, Shelley Winters
continues to be an incredible artistic and spiritual inspiration to
Lisa. |
 |
Lisa’s first feature
role was in Robert Hyatt’s action adventure film, Deadly Ransom with
Brion James, Francesco Quinn and John Aprea. She has also starred in the
road movie, Guaranteed on Delivery with David Carradine and Alibi with
popular German actress,Marie Zielcke and Holly Woodlawn. |
 |
Her numerous
independent films include the award winning Dill Scallion, Progeny, The
Russian Godfather, and One More Round.
Recently Lisa has written a comedic pilot
with Natalie Denise Sperl called "Vomit Queens", which the two actresses
will produce and star in alongside each other.

"Kenmore Ave" is a gritty
Hitchcock style thriller, filmed on the
streets of Hollywood at night. Please go to
www.coldwatercanyonentertainment.com
and click on our trailer. It is best if you have DSL! |
 |
If you are interested in seeing another film in which
I star. You may logon to Bigstar.com or half.com
or imdb.com and type "Deadly Ransom". This may
also be available in certain blockbuster video stores. I play the daughter of a
wealthy business man who is kidnapped along with her father and held for ransom.
This film was directed by Robert Hyatt and also stars Francesco Quinn, John Aprea and the
late Brion James. |
 |
There is one more project which is
close to my heart, which I am producing called "From the
Midst of Pain".
It is a documentary about abused women and children and how creativity
heals. Nunzio Fazio, the director and I have been working on this
along with Lane Bradbury for over a year now. |
 |
It has been an
amazing and rewarding experience to document the difficult and
devastating incidents that these women have gone through and are brave
enough to share in order to help others. I feel strongly that the
voices of these women must be heard. We hope to have it aired on
PBS.
I look forward to updating you soon.
Best Regards,
Lisa Crosato |

in! Magazine -"Although she is a new face to
many, this Canadian native began acting in Vancouver and was accepted into the
Williamstown Theatre Festival upon high recommendations from fellow thespians.
Crosato says, "I think that's where I really learned the craft of acting, by watching
and working with great actors from Broadway." |
 |
As a child, Crosato's father encouraged her to perform songs and skits for her Italian
great-grandmother and other family members on the fireplace hearth. "My dad was
definitely my first director." Crosato believes that the imprint for actors and
performers gets set very early. |
 |
When asked what she misses most about Canada, Crosato
quips, "Hockey Night In Canada. I miss that camaraderie shared among Canadians
while watching a bunch of grown men beat each other up with sticks. I also miss the
Canadian sarcastic sense of humor." Francis B. Kilduff |
